In Search of Little Saigon in America

To rediscover my roots as a Vietnamese American, I have been inquiring about my parents' stories from living in Vietnam to fleeing to America during the war. Only the last couple years have I put these questions into photographs.  As I have branched out to inquire and make portraits of other Vietnamese refugees and community enclaves, I have been discovering similarities in each story. As the questions evolved, I constantly ask "has the transition of Vietnamese cuisine from Vietnam to America changed any of it." Some of the answers were surprising and some were expected.  My goals for this project are two ideas- What does it mean to be a Vietnamese American?  What is Vietnamese food in America?
